Aurelia Chepkirui Rono
PS, State Department for Parliamentary Affairs

CPA Ms. Aurelia Rono is the Principal Secretary for the State Department for Parliamentary Affairs within the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary (OPCS). In her role, she is the link between the Executive and Parliament, facilitating the execution of Government business within Parliament. Her responsibilities entails close collaboration with the two Majority Leaders in The National Assembly and The Senate.

One of her core duties is to strengthen coordination of identification and formulation of policies and the legislative frameworks across government ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs). This is essential in ensuring that policies and legislative priorities align seamlessly with and are informed by the national development agenda as outlined in national blueprints such as the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BeTA) and the Kenya Vision 2030. As part of this role, Ms. Rono convenes National Steering Committee of the Government Legislative Agenda that is Chaired by the Prime Cabinet Secretary to coordinate all MDAs on defining and participatory formulation of priority policies and legislation.

Ms. Rono's academic journey is marked by significant accomplishments. She holds a Master's degree in Business Administration and is a registered member of Institute of Certified Public Accountants – Kenya (ICPA-K). Her commitment to learning is ongoing, currently pursuing doctoral studies in Business Administration Finance. Her educational foundation includes a Bachelor of Education in Science from Egerton University.

Throughout her career, she has applied her expertise through teaching roles in Economics, Accounting, and Business Finance at institutions such as Bomet University College, Maasai Mara University, Nairobi Institute of Business Studies, and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).During her tenure as a nominated member of the Bomet County Assembly from 2013 to 2017, she served as the Chairperson of the Budget and Appropriation Committee. Beyond her official responsibilities, Ms. Rono is actively engaged in various community-based development initiatives. Her related appointments include:e Kenya Red Cross Executive Board, World Vision trainer of Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) and a chairperson for several school Boards of Management (B.O.M).
