Gender PS Anne Wang'ombe speaks at the Commission on the Status of Women planning meeting

A preparatory meeting for the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68) held today in Nairobi has outlined a clear roadmap of the country’s participation in the annual global intergovernmental event to be held in New York.

Kenya will join other UN Member States from March 11 and 17, 2024, to mark the event under the theme “Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective”.

As a tradition, CSW rallies participants annually to review progress made, existing gaps and emerging issues that affect Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment across the world, and to commit on further action necessary to promote the rights of women in the political, social and economic spheres.

The multi-stakeholder meeting ratified the draft Country Position Paper and other technical papers as well as schedule of activities to enrich the country’s participation.
